Limited Sight Distance...
Limited Sight Distance...

A sign, warning of the impending deficit of sight on roads and construction areas, has been more than an interesting passing fancy. Sure, I saw the sign months ago...but, as with many things I encounter, they reach a different layer in me and a connection is made that fires the brain cells and triggers the gears, and produces thought...‘this sign is unknowingly rather profound’. As with everyone who walks through this life of memories and events, trials and joys...milestones...road signs, if you will...we have limited sight distance. We cannot see into the future, we cannot know what is around the next bend, and even with best laid plans and preparations, we are never prepared for what is just out of sight...what we are limited to in view...both in the heart and with our eyes. It is not for us to know such things, for only the mind of God is adequate to contain what is unknown to our limited human faculties. But it is not without protection that we travel into that limited sight zone...no....in fact, all of life is that way...limited...in sight. That is why we walk by faith...for sight is dim and fails us...it cannot always see what is needed, or what will be needed for a time to come. But God does...and He prepares us for what is not yet, and molds us into what will be needed, and at the right time, He shows us what is...and we can see.
14 years ago I drove by the very house I am now living in...taking my 10 year old son to football practice and games. I drove by never noticing it...never realizing it would play a significant part in a new season in my life. I couldn’t see that far ahead...and I am glad I couldn’t....glad I was limited to the business of the present. Knowing would have been too much to carry...and so He carries it for us till we are ready to see more...and carry it ourselves...
